Spring Maintenance Tips Every Renter Should Know

Springtime in Missouri can be beautiful—but it also comes with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and the occasional tornado. As a renter, you’re not expected to handle major repairs or home upgrades—that’s our job! But there are a few simple things you can do to keep your home safe, comfortable, and running smoothly this season.

Here’s a quick renter-friendly checklist to help you stay ahead of spring’s surprises:

🌧 1. Keep an Eye Out for Drainage Issues

If you see water pooling in the yard, around the foundation, or near walkways after it rains, don’t ignore it. Drainage issues can lead to long-term damage, so please snap a photo and let us know. We’ll take care of it from there.

🌿 2. Tidy Up After Storms

Spring storms can knock down small branches, trash, or debris in the yard. If your lease includes yard care, give things a quick cleanup to keep pests away and your space looking great. Not sure if that applies to you? Reach out—we’re happy to clarify.

💧 3. Check Gutters and Downspouts (If You’re Responsible)

If your lease includes outdoor upkeep, make sure gutters and downspouts are clear of leaves and debris so rainwater can flow properly. Overflowing gutters can cause water damage to your home. If you’re not sure whether this is your responsibility, just ask!

🐜 4. Prevent Pests

Warmer weather means bugs are back. Keep food sealed, trash bins closed, and surfaces clean. If you notice ants, wasps, or anything that shouldn’t be there, try basic pest control first—or give us a call if it gets out of hand.

🌬 5. Change Your Air Filter

Yes, it really does matter. A fresh air filter improves airflow, helps your cooling system run more efficiently, and keeps allergens under control. It’s a small task that makes a big difference—especially during allergy season.
